Lights Go Out (EP, 2011)
Recorded over the span of three years, in three different locations and with three different bass players, Ragged Bay’s inaugural EP was a long time coming.
Functioning as a kind of mission statement for the band, Lights Go Out is a tour of the sonic landscape Ragged Bay seeks to explore, starting with the jump-up-and-dance pop lament “Will To Survive” and seguing into the reeling 3 A.M. stumble down the street of “Sky It Split”. From there it’s off to the stomp and clap folk rumination of “Some Fine Day” and finally the rollicking existential quandary of the title track, “Lights Go Out”.
This is the call to arms. If you find yourself tapping your toe or thinking “I’ve been there,” you got it. If not, give it a second listen. There may or may not also be a top secret additional bonus track for purchasers of the physical disc, we are not at liberty to discuss it.
