Wat to Du this July

13 May

We’re going to be playing our first outdoor gig this July after a near-miss this April! We were supposed to play outdoors at the UW-Whitewater Concert Under the Stars on April 28th, but it was raining and the weather was generally lame, so it became, as Joe put it, “Concert Under the Lee” (as in Lee Hall, whose basement the show ended up taking place in). This was a homecoming of sorts for Brad, who lived in Lee hall during his freshman year at the university.

The show went well, and although Ragged Bay didn’t end up winning the by-round-of-applause style battle of the bands competition, losing out to Save the Date, a 90′s Alt-Rock cover band (basically unstoppable given the circumstances) we did have an excellent chat with Gutsy Tumbler Band front man/ UW-W Radio DJ / all-around renaissance man Matt Alba. His stuff is excellent, and highly recommended. Go check it out!

So, our next big stop is the annual Wa Du Shuda festival in New Lisbon, on July 9th. We’ll be playing from 11am to 2:30pm- which is a very long set. In order to accomplish this, we’re enlisting Jim Westness (Brad and Greg’s older brother) to complete the Westness Brother Trifecta. He’ll be playing an acoustic set in between two Ragged Bay sets, in addition to joining the full band for a couple jams.

In addition to plenty of live music, the festival will include games, a rock climbing wall, magic shows, canoe races, a flea market and even fireworks, so don’t miss it! You can read more details about the festival here: http://www.newlisbonchamber.com/events.aspx
